By Monday, 28 July 2025 10:07

As of 1August Malpensa train tickets between Milan and Malpensa Airport will rise from €13 to €15.

“The lowest fare per kilometre in Europe”

Fares for intermediate stations will also change by one Euro, while tickets for children up to 13 years of age will go from €6.50 to €7.50. Trenord, the company that manages the regional rail service and the Malpensa Express, points out that this is the “first airport fare adjustment since 2016 and that the fare per kilometre of €0.27 per hour is the lowest in Europe where the average is €0.73.” The increase will contribute to “a further evolution in the quality of the service” from which travellers on the other routes will also benefit, as they will not experience increases in either tickets or seasonal subscriptions.”

New trains on the Milano Centrale-Malpensa route

Meanwhile, on the line between Milano Centrale and Malpensa the new Caravaggio trains, already operating from Cadorna station, will enter service. These are suited to carrying large flows such as those to the airport, where in the first few months of the year there was an average of 14,500 travellers a day, which was a 4% increase over 2024.

Trains run from 4am to 1am daily

Malpensa Express, Trenord notes, is the airport connection with the widest offer in Italy, with trains from 4 am to 1 am daily, running every fifteen minutes. In addition, for the summer on holidays and pre-holidays the timetable has been extended from 3am to 2am, to further facilitate tourists travelling by train.
