easyJet is extending its reach in Italy with two new bases in Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino airports.

And to add the Linate base to the historic Malpensa base is an ambition that has finally been realized,” said Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, explaining the launch of the new base on 2 April, after having inaugurated the Rome Fiumicino base the day before. “For the first time, - Jarvis explained, -we are offering a low-cost alternative on a large scale at Milan Linate where legacy carriers have historically operated, strengthening Linate's role as a gateway to Europe. Expanding our network of destinations is a fundamental pillar of our development strategy: by connecting Milan to a growing number of European destinations, including new ones, with direct flights, we intend revolutionizing the travel experience from Linate and stimulate the economic growth of the territory.”
Making efficient use of available slots at Milan Linate
“EasyJet's arrival at Linate is a real advantage for the airport,- said Armando Brunini, CEO of SEA Milan Airports, - as it is a stopover with limited movements (18 per hour Ed.) the use of larger capacity aircraft with high load factors allows for a particularly efficient use of available slots. Furthermore, easyJet’s network of destinations fits perfectly with that of Linate, thanks to its point-to-point model for European destinations. Finally, the portfolio of international destinations reachable from the airport is growing significantly compared to the current offer, which until now has been mainly concentrated on connections to the reference hubs of the traditional airlines that operate at Linate’.
Five new destinations from Rome Fiumicino
For summer 2025 easyJet is offering 16 destinations in Rome, five of which are new, and a capacity that has increased by 35% compared to last year. During the summer, up to 56 daily flights to and from Rome will be operated, for over 1.4 million seats. The new routes available from Rome include Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Zurich and Brussels, in addition to the existing destinations of London, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Paris Orly, Nantes, Nice, Lyon, Basel, Geneva and Berlin. The investment in Rome will have a significant impact on employment in the area, with the hiring of 150 people.
easyJet now has 38 aircraft based in four Italian airports
“The opening of the easyJet base in our 5-star airport once again demonstrates the great appeal of Fiumicino, now in the top 10 of the best-connected airports globally, and confirms the strategic importance of the capital on international markets,” adds Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma. With the opening of the base at Milan Linate, easyJet now has 38 aircraft based in Italy at 4 airports (in addition to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate, also Malpensa and Naples) and 1,650 employees. Ours thus becomes the second largest market for easyJet, with over 21 million seats available for flights on over 260 routes to and from 19 Italian airports.
